Active Directory / Network Issues (Updated: 11/10/2009 8:32am)          Status: Open

Update: 11/10/09 10:58am: The SCCM server was damaged by the worm and must be re-created. Thus, there may be a delay on the distribution of software to Active Directory computers.

Update 11/10/09 8:32am: Our system administrators have identified the worm and removed it from the server. The services listed in the original post have been restored. However, as a precaution, the system administrators are now scanning the servers for viruses that may have followed the worm. There may also be some residual effects on individual computers. You may need to reboot your computer in order to re-connect to the server. In addition, if you receive reports from TrendMicro Officescan, please notify the IT Helpdesk (229-245-4357, helpdesk@valdosta.edu), as your computer may have become infected. Thank you again for your patience while we resolve this matter.

This morning, we have encountered an Active Directory / Network issue related to a worm on the server. The symptoms include:

- Network Slowness
- Locked Active Directory Accounts
- Inability to Access Network Drives & Printers

Our system administrators are working dilligently to correct the issue. We will update this announcement as more information becomes available. We apologize for the loss of productivity.
